Amazing Swimmers with Down Syndrome

I read this article yesterday about Austin Hanson, who is a 36 year old swimmer with Down Syndrome. He practices with the swimming portion of the YMCA triathlon training program and is preparing to swim with 400 non-disabled swimmers in this month's 1.7 mile ocean swim at Wrightsville Beach. This guy surfs, swims quite seriously, and is an all-around motivating guy! He is not only a testament to the potential of kids with Down syndrome, but challenges all of us to think about what we can accomplish! You can check out the article by clicking: here.

If you haven't read about Karen Gaffney, her story is also worth reading. (click here) She has swam the English Channel among other athletic accomplishments and tours as a motivational speaker.
