Posture and Therapy Disks

Isokinetics Inc. Brand Exercise Disc / Balance Cushion - 14" Diameter - BlackChase has really accelerated in gross motor skills - he is crawling, climbing and cruising all over! It is so much fun! Ironically, however, one of his big weaknesses is sitting. His core / trunk is just not strong enough and he slumps over while sitting. Our occupational therapist has recommended using a therapy disk to help him strengthen his core and we ordered one off of Amazon today for $13. Hopefully this will get his trunk stronger which will eventually carry over into his standing and walking.

  1. Sweet Pea sits well but has quite low muscle tone in her core and I know that this will dramatically hinder her ability to walk on her own so we are working to build it up. These look very interesting! Keep us posted on how it goes!

  2. I bet he is getting to be a lot of FUN! Emily just started climbing our stairs...I maybe investing in a baby gate before I have a heart attack!

  3. This worked great for Nate! We had him sit toward the front half of the disc so if he started to lean back the air would move to the back of the disc and give him a nice reminder to sit back up. We literally went from 10 minutes of unassisted sitting to 90 minutes unassisted on the disc - we used it for a couple of weeks and then he was golden!
    Good luck!
