Inspirational Slopes

These articles about skiers with Down syndrome or other disabilities always blow me away. People who are blind or cannot walk even learn to ski! Not only is this an area in which I am not skilled (or brave), but I am working so hard on getting Chase to walk that I don't look ahead to these awesome things he'll later be capable of doing!

Colorado Discover Ability volunteer Jim Worthington is skiing along with Carla Lawrence, who cannot walk. "It teaches her a lot about life in general, things that we take for granted as able bodies," says Worthington.

Colorado Discover Ability has taught 200 participants to become able athletes. The program gives up to 600 ski lessons to special needs students every season.
