Bringing Home Ian

If you haven't met Gretchen Stewart, or at least read her blog, pay attention! This woman and her family are in the process of adopting a little boy with Down syndrome from Russia named Ian and has gotten far enough along in the process to travel to his country with her whole family (including their little boy, Ari). The pictures of the Stewart family meeting Ian and playing with him over the course of a couple days are incredible, and it breaks my heart that they had to leave Russia to come back to the United States while leaving him behind. This is all part of the adoption process - the family meets the child, pledges to take him, and then the adoption process continues to work out the remaining details in order for the family to be able to finally claim the child as theirs.

The Stewarts have done an amazing job of contributing their own money and raising a good amount more. However, as most of you know, international adoption is very expensive and they have about $17,000 left to raise before they can travel back and pick Ian up to bring home forever.

Visit the Stewart's blog to see the beautiful pictures of their family playing together at the orphanage's gym and enter their contest to win some gorgeous jewelry pieces by donating to their adoption fund!
