In this past year, Chase has had tonsils and adenoids removed, two tear duct surgeries, tear duct tubes placed, then removed, ear tubes placed, sleep studies, and blood tests. End result? He is sleeping better (though still with mild apnea), his tear ducts have cleared up, his sinus infections decreased, his hearing improved, less fluid in his ears, less congestion, and he has worlds more energy. He is also walking and vocalizing more.
- The opthalmologist thought he might need to rebuild Chase's entire tear duct system .... Nope - his eyes suddenly cleared up! Problem solved out of nowhere!
- The ENT thought Chase's ear tubes were no longer working and that we'd need to put him under anesthesia to replace them .... but antibiotics surprised the doctors by completely clearing up the fluid and showing the tubes still worked.
What we were told at the clinic yesterday was simply that we should visit an orthopedist for shoe inserts or possibly little ankle braces to help Chase improve his walking, and that we should go back to giving him fish oil to help stimulate his talking. If these are the biggest concerns we have to worry about right now, I'll take it!!
We have a sleep study next week to evaluate how the apnea is doing and need to get thyroid tests done. But all in all, Chase's health is great, he has improved since his last visit, and he is loving life and enjoying being a big brother! Praise God!
