At one point, we were literally hiking up a glacier, taking little sideways steps to keep our balance. Once we successfully finished that part, we made the decision to turn back - we had hiked 500 ft up to a gorgeous view (Caroline even doing practically the whole thing by herself) and the trail was closed just a little farther up due to bears.
One of the great parts of this hike was that we had close-up views of mountain sheep! First we saw a mama and her baby, and at the end of the hike we saw lots of rams very, very close up!
